Second Black Woman to Become a Judge in South Africa
Judge Thokozile Masipa is only the second black woman to become a Judge in South Africa. The oldest of 10 children and a former social worker, she is a historic figure. Recent death threats due to the case, State v Oscar Pistorius, have caused her and her family to be put under security protection. Despite this she has not flinched once. Her colleagues have stated that is respected and admired in the community. Having watched the coverage of the case I can say she is the utmost professional, but not without a tasteful sense of humor. She is definitely a strong role model for women in the legal profession everywhere.
